Deck Revive Full Kit Coverage: Depending on the condition of the wood and the application technique, two coats will cover approximately 200 square feet.

DeckRevive is a one-of-a-kind polymer coating that resurfaces and restores aging wood decks, walkways, steps and more, allowing you to enjoy your existing structure for years! Just add one gallon of gloss exterior acrylic latex paint of any color and roll on with everyday paint tools.

  • locks down splinters
  • fills in cracks
  • slip-resistant
  • environmentally friendly

Deck Revive is a DIY acrylic based polymer deck coating that resurfaces old decks, docks, and other treated lumber — in ANY color you choose. Deck Revive repairs and protects wood structures from the constant expansion and contraction cycle that destroys wood.

Traditional deck stains, deck paints, and deck sealers just put new color on old splinters, cracks, and nailheads and have to be re-applied annually. Deck Revive actually fills in cracks and knots, locks down splinters and nailheads, and provides a new slip-resistant textured surface that lasts for years.

Our Deck Revive coating will give you a new durable, scuff, stain and fire-resistant surface that requires zero to little maintenance. So easy to apply with everyday paintbrushes and rollers and tools clean up with water. Dries quickly for minimal time-out-of-service. It can be applied in the morning and enjoyed that evening.

Your Deck Revive kit contains a liquid component and a dry component. To these, you add one gallon of ANY color of exterior latex paint. Color choice is unlimited – you can have any color your paint store can mix up!

Deck Revive is an environmentally-friendly choice. It is water-based, VOC-free and non-toxic. When you refurbish existing wood structures with Deck Revive, you prolong their service life and keep them out of landfills.

Save thousands over the cost of replacement or annual deck stain and deck seal maintenance when you choose Deck Revive. You’ll also save time — so you can spend more of it enjoying your outdoor living spaces, not maintaining them!

So take your shoes off and start enjoying your old deck with our revolutionary resurfacing coating. Your family, friends, and kids can run around splinter free for years to come.

Not an inquiry, just a glowing review .... Just finished my last two 200 sq ft porches on my home. I have 4, two on the front of the house and two on the back. I believe it's been 3 years since I covered the first one and it still looks like it did when I first applied your Deck Revive. For my last one, I had my son helping me and since the process went quicker, the finish turned out better then when I did it by myself. Also what helped was I used 3 inch painters tape around any columns and anywhere else that I would have otherwise had to use a paint brush, which allowed me to use a roller for the entire job which made it so much quicker and easier on the back. That would be my recommendations for a large application. Love your product, surprised that some or the big box stores haven't contacted you.

We used this about two years ago, and it\'s been great! We haven\'t had one little patch come off yet. The Deck Revive/Perma Bond combo has been awesome. It's more expensive, but you'll make your money back in all the saved labor when you only have to seal your deck once. Follow directions, do it right the first time, and you'll save yourself a lot of time and money. Note: I did NOT receive any free/discounted product for this review. It\'s hard to find information about this product, so i wanted to post this review to help others looking for a quality deck sealer.

In the spring of 2017 my wife and I purchased a small cabin in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The cabin had a deck that needed some TLC. The low humidity sun filled days had taken a toll on the wood. I searched the internet for something more than stain. I found Gulf Synthetics Deck Revive Kit. I purchased the Perma Bond and Deck Revive. Strictly following the step by step procedure produced a really nice result. I was impressed. It looked great. But how would it hold up. After one year it still looks like the day I put it on. No peeling. The old saying you get what you pay for could not be more true here. I am very satisfied with ther products and would highly recommend them.

So far so good - we just painted our very old deck and it actually looks and feels good on our feet. Hooray!

This product actually works!

Used this product last year in 2015 and looks great after the first Winter. No issue with any peeling! Application was easy. Really like the Perma Bond primer. Makes it really easy for the Deck Revive to adhere to our old deck paint. So far so good!

I finished recoating about 180 square foot deck with the product (using permabond, permafill, and deck revive per instructions). It seems to have bonded great but won't know until it lives through weather and sun. Unfortunately, I did a poor job of trying to match the house's siding color and would like to correct. Since I've now got a solid base delivered by the product, can I add one coat over the existing two in a different color? (I'm going from a light toupe to a medium one with a bit more brown.) I'm assuming I would need to use permabond again am wandering if I could cut the dry portion of the mix in half if not altogether? What are the roles of the liquid and dry portions of the mix? I would need two 1/4 kits to do one more coat. I would also tint the permabond this time to help insure that one coat achieves color coverage. Are there any easier ways to remedy my bad color choice?

You will need to use the Permabond (you can tint it) first and you will need to use the dry portion in the full amount. If the new color will cover the old color (old color does not show through) then you will only need one coat.

With the deck I'm refinishing, most of the boards have decent space between them for drainage. Some are a little tighter. In rolling across boards for first coat and with boards on second coat with a 9 inch roller do I need to be concerned about clogging the drainage spacing between boards? Should I use a straight edge to make sure it stays open for drainage?

      Gulf Synthetics · 09/11/2017
Use a straight edge if needed but most likely it is not an issue.

I recently completed two coats of your deck revive (after using permabond of course), and there are so me spots that need a little touch up. Is there a time limit to use the leftover deckrevive that has not hardened? (24 hours later and some vigorous stirring made it cake batter like again after being in a sealed container). Does more permabond need to be added? (It has not rained and no rain forecasted for 48 hours). Just wanting to make sure I have the whole thing completely covered. Thanks!

At this point, it will be better to use the Permabond first in those spots and a new 1/4 Kit of the Deck Revive.

What quality level should the Acrylic Gloss Exterior Paint be? For example, SW has Emerald, Duration, SuperPaint, etc. I want to know if the more expensive lines have better results with the Deck Revive product.

If it is a consistent all the way around, just do the length x the width.

    I have already ordered your product to cover my large 900sq ft deck. I have two questions;
1. Can I do the Perma Fill a day in advance? it will be time consuming to do, and I don't want to rush.

2. When ready to do Deck Revive, can I do half the deck at a time? Is that a problem or not recommended.

Thank you for your time.

1. Yes but make sure to spot apply Permabond to the areas prior to the Permafill. When you apply the Deck Revive, use the Permabond over the entire deck, including the areas where you applied the Permafill.

2. It would be best to do all at once. Apply Permabond first and then do the Deck Revive.

    Two things:

1) My deck is 11x20'. I am SUPER interested in your product but I'm a bit disheartened in that it appears that I will need to purchase two of your kits to meet the required coverage. In your experiences, will I ABSOLUTELY need two kits to cover my deck? Or is it possible to somehow make one kit work for me?

2) Speaking of kits, and this is more of a point of constructive criticism than it is a question... but a "kit" implies a set of components needed to do [insert thing/task here]. You state that the Perma Bond is an absolute requirement to complete a deck job, so it just irks me a bit that you sell this product separately, outside of the Deck Revive kit. No one's expecting you to give the Perma Bond away for free, but at least include that in the kit and mark the kit price up appropriately.

Thanks for your time!

      Gulf Synthetics · 06/26/2017

1. Yes, but you could get one full kit and 1 of the 1/4 Kits.

2. The Permabond cannot fit in the same container, hence why it is not included as an all inclusive.

Thanks

I am looking to use this product on my deck this summer. What are the temperature ranges that it is safe/most effective to apply it under. (low and high temps)? What about a high humidity day? What about applying it in direct sunlight versus in the shade or an overcast day?

Reviewing the Q & A section of your website I read the Deck Revive is applied with a 3/4" nap roller. Can you use a less thick nap roller 1/2" or 1/4" so it has less of a textured surface? Also would the Deck Revive be applied to railings with a typical paint brush? Thank you.
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 06/22/2017
Sorry but no. Has to be 3/4" and it is not possible to reduce the texture. Use a roller for the most part on the railings and a brush where you cannot reach with roller.

I applied perma bond and Deck Revive earlier this spring. Everything looks great! My challenge now it dirt and cleaning the deck. Dog prints from mud, and muddy boot prints do not wash away as expected, along with bird droppings. Is it safe to use a brush to clean down in the grooves or best to power wash?

Use a soft bristle brush and soapy water to clean. You can lightly pressure "rinse".

We moved into a home with a large porch (about 600 SqFt) that does not appear to have ever been stained and is quite dated. We have power washed the whole deck and replaced some of the more rotten boards, but do you recommend sanding the old boards before applying the permabond? And from what I can see, it seems as if we will need 3 Deck Revive kits and 2 Perma Bond containers, correct? This will also be enough to cover the railings surrounding the deck, right? Thank you!
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 06/07/2017

No sanding. Just pressure wash. If the horizontal deck area alone is 600 sq. feet than you have to add the sq. footage for the railings as well if you want to use the Deck Revive there on the rails. Many people use the Deck Revive for the horizontals only a regular solid stain for the verticals/railings.

For 600 total sq feet, you will need 3 Deck Revive Kits and 2 Perma Bonds.

What is the difference between acrylic latex and just acrylic exterior paint? Can I use acrylic paint? Is gloss unique to this type of paint or should I be selecting semi-gloss or high-gloss? My local hardware store carries Sherwin Williams (colors match my home) but only in acrylic (no latex) and in either semi or high gloss. Thanks in advance for your help.

All water based acrylic paints will fall under the latex umbrella. For example, the SW Acrylic High Gloss would be good since it is a gloss and an acrylic water based paint.

I have a deck which is composed of some kind of composite material. I have had continuing problems with the deck over the past 10 years. The material continues to deteriorate. This has occurred at the edge of the material. The builder admitted that the material was faulty from the beginning and found out that if the material was not removed and replaced you would have to scrape away the deteriorated areas, seal it and paint it. This has been done 4 times. What I want to know is can I cover the painted deck with your Perma Bond and then cover that surface with Deck Revive? Your product sounds absolutely wonderful, however I wonder if it will work for me in the above described instance. Would appreciate your response. Thank you.

Unfortunately, it is not designed for composites but wood. It is possible that it may work just fine, but we do not have the history to say yes and therefore cannot guarantee it.

The only exterior gloss sheen acrylic paint I can find in local hardware stores is called "direct to metal". Can I use semi-gloss, or will the "direct to metal" paint work? If direct to metal will not work and semi-gloss will not work, is there a recommended brand of paint that comes in gloss acrylic exterior.
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 03/26/2017
It needs to be a gloss exterior acrylic latex paint. They have this at Home Depot, Menards or Lowes. Does not matter on the brand. The semi-gloss will not work, not the direct to metal.

I see you use a 3/4" nap. How is the texture on the deck. That is, can you walk barefooted on the deck or will there be sharp points from using that nap size.
