• fills in cracks
  • slip-resistant
  • environmentally friendly

Deck Revive is a DIY acrylic based polymer deck coating that resurfaces old decks, docks, and other treated lumber — in ANY color you choose. Deck Revive repairs and protects wood structures from the constant expansion and contraction cycle that destroys wood.

Traditional deck stains, deck paints, and deck sealers just put new color on old splinters, cracks, and nailheads and have to be re-applied annually. Deck Revive actually fills in cracks and knots, locks down splinters and nailheads, and provides a new slip-resistant textured surface that lasts for years.

Our Deck Revive coating will give you a new durable, scuff, stain and fire-resistant surface that requires zero to little maintenance. So easy to apply with everyday paintbrushes and rollers and tools clean up with water. Dries quickly for minimal time-out-of-service. It can be applied in the morning and enjoyed that evening.

Your Deck Revive kit contains a liquid component and a dry component. To these, you add one gallon of ANY color of exterior latex paint. Color choice is unlimited – you can have any color your paint store can mix up!

Deck Revive is an environmentally-friendly choice. It is water-based, VOC-free and non-toxic. When you refurbish existing wood structures with Deck Revive, you prolong their service life and keep them out of landfills.

Save thousands over the cost of replacement or annual deck stain and deck seal maintenance when you choose Deck Revive. You’ll also save time — so you can spend more of it enjoying your outdoor living spaces, not maintaining them!

So take your shoes off and start enjoying your old deck with our revolutionary resurfacing coating. Your family, friends, and kids can run around splinter free for years to come.

Not an inquiry, just a glowing review .... Just finished my last two 200 sq ft porches on my home. I have 4, two on the front of the house and two on the back. I believe it's been 3 years since I covered the first one and it still looks like it did when I first applied your Deck Revive. For my last one, I had my son helping me and since the process went quicker, the finish turned out better then when I did it by myself. Also what helped was I used 3 inch painters tape around any columns and anywhere else that I would have otherwise had to use a paint brush, which allowed me to use a roller for the entire job which made it so much quicker and easier on the back. That would be my recommendations for a large application. Love your product, surprised that some or the big box stores haven't contacted you.

We used this about two years ago, and it\'s been great! We haven\'t had one little patch come off yet. The Deck Revive/Perma Bond combo has been awesome. It's more expensive, but you'll make your money back in all the saved labor when you only have to seal your deck once. Follow directions, do it right the first time, and you'll save yourself a lot of time and money. Note: I did NOT receive any free/discounted product for this review. It\'s hard to find information about this product, so i wanted to post this review to help others looking for a quality deck sealer.

In the spring of 2017 my wife and I purchased a small cabin in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The cabin had a deck that needed some TLC. The low humidity sun filled days had taken a toll on the wood. I searched the internet for something more than stain. I found Gulf Synthetics Deck Revive Kit. I purchased the Perma Bond and Deck Revive. Strictly following the step by step procedure produced a really nice result. I was impressed. It looked great. But how would it hold up. After one year it still looks like the day I put it on. No peeling. The old saying you get what you pay for could not be more true here. I am very satisfied with ther products and would highly recommend them.

This product actually works!

Used this product last year in 2015 and looks great after the first Winter. No issue with any peeling! Application was easy. Really like the Perma Bond primer. Makes it really easy for the Deck Revive to adhere to our old deck paint. So far so good!

It seems most deck paints and stains only last about 2 years. In comparison, how long can I expect your product to last? I consider my deck to be very "high traffic" because of my two 150lb dogs that are always playing and wrestling out there, which is why I need something that's very durable. I'm also in Connecticut, so the deck will experience all four seasons.

3-5 years is normal under normal conditions. Honestly. Your 150lb dogs will eventually wear away any deck coating sooner than normal. No stain or coating can prevent this.

I'm confused about the type of paint you say to mix with the product. In some places you say to use "gloss or semi-gloss" and in other places you say that you cannot use "semi-gloss"- that it has to be "gloss" ext. latex paint. I'm having a hard time finding "gloss" ext. latex paint at Home Depot and Lowes...they carry "satin" or "semi-gloss" for exterior paints (gloss for interior paints only). Is it okay to use "satin" exterior latex paint or do I need to search other stores for "gloss" exterior paint? Thanks!!!

Exterior gloss acrylic latex only. HD and Lowes both carry a gloss paint when we last checked.

Can Deck Revive be used over Deck Rescue which was applied several years ago and is now showing cracking and peeling in some areas? Need to know some "coverage numbers" for estimating how much product is needed. How long between order and arrival?

      Gulf Synthetics · 05/20/2018
Hello, you will need to remove the "Deck Rescue" first as the Deck Revive cannot fix other "deck resurface" type products that have failied. Shipping time varies based on where you live. Coverage is on the product info sheets.

I have a very large deck in a home in the Bahamas. It was painted with a latex paint that is flaking off in most places. Do I have to remove all the paint and get down to the bare wood or just what comes off with a cleaner?

      Gulf Synthetics · 05/20/2018
You do not have to remove all the paint but you will need to remove all the loose paint.

Two questions: we have a deck with western facing exposure and is exposed to intense sun in the afternoons/early evenings. After the product is applied, does the deck surface heat up dramatically or does it retain heat (i.e. unable to use deck on hot days because of radiant heat?)

Our deck is roughly 16x16. From previous responses, it seems as though we would need more than one full kit to cover the 256 sq ft, correct?

Thanks
• We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 05/12/2018
Heat retention would depend on the color that you choose when adding the paint. Darker colors tend to be hotter. Yes on the sq footage.

I want to paint the verticals the same color as I use with the deck revive. Can I use the same color as I mix with the deck revive? Or does the color change enough to where I should wait and have it color matched after drying? Also, Im sure after mixing, the deck revive does not have a gloss sheen, what sheen paint should I get to match the dried deck revive?
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 05/10/2018
You should color match a solid color deck stain to the Deck Revive after applying. The color will be very close the color of the gloss paint that you added. No sheen options in solid color stains or needed. Final appearance will be a matte.

Has to be high gloss acrylic latex paint. This means water based. Cannot be oil based. 12 hours may be cutting it close.

I have an extremely large deck (2000 plus Sq. feet) I am not sure I could do the whole thing in one day. Can it be done over a 2 day period?
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 03/29/2018
Yes but you have to apply the Permabond primer the same day as the Deck Revive. Only mix one Deck Revive at a time. Do not stop in a middle of a deck board(s) from day to day. Stop on an edge of a board so you do not have overlaps.

I'm done with restaining my deck every couple of years and I'd like a uniform clean look on my deck, so I'm probably going to use Deck Revive for the first time this Spring. One thing I don't like about my current stain is that our dog's paw prints show up on it very easily and don't wash off when it rains. They seem to disappear when it rains but then the same paw prints show up again when the rain dries. What is Deck Revive like with paw prints? What can I expect? Thank you.

I used an Olympic Elite semi-solid stain last year. Although most of it still looks good, parts are already looking worn. I'm thinking of using Deck Revive. Do I need to remove the Olympic stain before I apply Deck Revive? Thanks.
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 03/12/2018
No, you do not need to fully remove it. Pressure wash for the prep to remove what stain is loose or coming off already. Let dry and apply the Permabond before using the Deck Revive.

Bought a house where the deck has little to no space between the boards. Replaced a few and really had to jam them in. Generally speaking, is this an issue for this finished product?

If you use semi-gloss latex acrylic vs gloss, do you sacrifice strength of finish/longevity? Also, can I go back and add another coat if desired in a few weeks without using perma bond again provided surface is still clean from original application?
• We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 10/16/2017
You cannot use semi-gloss. Needs to be gloss. No, you cannot apply another coat a few weeks later without using the Permabond first.

I have read just about your whole website and am very interested in your products. My question is:

My deck was previously stained. I understand how to do the horizontals but if I want to do the verticals white how could I do that if I did not use the Deck Revive. Can you use perma bond under paint? I saw some pictures on your site where the verticals were white and the deck a different color...any tips/suggestions?
Thanks
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 09/24/2017
Just use a white solid color deck stain for the verticals if you do not want to use the Deck Revive there. No need for the Permabond.

We coated our deck last weekend with your Deck Revive product. Good weather, but maybe a little too close to the 85 degree upper limit. Dried fast and we got some visible lap marks in the texture. Overall we are pleased. My question - we have an older dog with poor bladder control. Will the Deck Revive coating hold up to dog urine when she has an accident on the deck? Thanks!

It may discolor it slightly but it should not break down the coating.

I finished recoating about 180 square foot deck with the product (using permabond, permafill, and deck revive per instructions). It seems to have bonded great but won't know until it lives through weather and sun. Unfortunately, I did a poor job of trying to match the house's siding color and would like to correct. Since I've now got a solid base delivered by the product, can I add one coat over the existing two in a different color? (I'm going from a light toupe to a medium one with a bit more brown.) I'm assuming I would need to use permabond again am wandering if I could cut the dry portion of the mix in half if not altogether? What are the roles of the liquid and dry portions of the mix? I would need two 1/4 kits to do one more coat. I would also tint the permabond this time to help insure that one coat achieves color coverage. Are there any easier ways to remedy my bad color choice?
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 09/14/2017
You will need to use the Permabond (you can tint it) first and you will need to use the dry portion in the full amount. If the new color will cover the old color (old color does not show through) then you will only need one coat.

With the deck I'm refinishing, most of the boards have decent space between them for drainage. Some are a little tighter. In rolling across boards for first coat and with boards on second coat with a 9 inch roller do I need to be concerned about clogging the drainage spacing between boards? Should I use a straight edge to make sure it stays open for drainage?
    • We will reply to your comment shortly

Use a straight edge if needed but most likely it is not an issue.

I recently completed two coats of your deck revive (after using permabond of course), and there are so me spots that need a little touch up. Is there a time limit to use the leftover deckrevive that has not hardened? (24 hours later and some vigorous stirring made it cake batter like again after being in a sealed container). Does more permabond need to be added? (It has not rained and no rain forecasted for 48 hours). Just wanting to make sure I have the whole thing completely covered. Thanks!
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      Gulf Synthetics · 08/15/2017
At this point, it will be better to use the Permabond first in those spots and a new 1/4 Kit of the Deck Revive.

Can I do the Perma Fill a day in advance? it will be time consuming to do, and I don't want to rush.

2. When ready to do Deck Revive, can I do half the deck at a time?
1. Yes but make sure to spot apply Permabond to the areas prior to the Permafill. When you apply the Deck Revive, use the Permabond over the entire deck, including the areas where you applied the Permafill.

2. It would be best to do all at once. Apply Permabond first and then do the Deck Revive.

    Two things:

1) My deck is 11x20'. I am SUPER interested in your product but I'm a bit disheartened in that it appears that I will need to purchase two of your kits to meet the required coverage. In your experiences, will I ABSOLUTELY need two kits to cover my deck? Or is it possible to somehow make one kit work for me?

2) Speaking of kits, and this is more of a point of constructive criticism than it is a question... but a "kit" implies a set of components needed to do [insert thing/task here]. You state that the Perma Bond is an absolute requirement to complete a deck job, so it just irks me a bit that you sell this product separately, outside of the Deck Revive kit. No one's expecting you to give the Perma Bond away for free, but at least include that in the kit and mark the kit price up appropriately.

Thanks for your time!

1. Yes, but you could get one full kit and 1 of the 1/4 Kits.

2. The Permabond cannot fit in the same container, hence why it is not included as an all inclusive.

Thanks
